Compensation of Affiliate Marketing
November 23, 2008 |
The whole point of joining an affiliate marketing program is the compensation. In the affiliate marketing, the compensation can be totally different from one case to another. Merchants can compensate affiliates virtually for any reason or action by the visitors as per merchant-affiliate agreement.
There are popular methods that provide the guidelines for any affiliate marketing program and they are applicable in most cases. The first case is the pay per sale programs where the affiliate marketing website is awarded the commission after the visitor or the customer hits the link to the merchant web site and purchases a product from there. In this case the commission can be fixed amount per sale or a percentage from every individual sale that occurs through the link on the affiliate web site. The commission is usually any where between 10 – 50 percent of the sale and it depends mainly on the product. A few products ask for commission calculation on a monthly remuneration basis. But the commission calculation is not same for all affiliate activities.
The second and the most popular case is the pay per click affiliate marketing program. It is very well known all around the internet as it is the easiest way to generate money from an affiliate marketing program. In this case, the customer only hits the link. An embed link on affiliate marketers site can get payment, no matter whether he buy any thing or not from the merchant site. But in this case you should make sure that your website maintains a very good traffic rate, because the compensation per click could be very low and most of the companies request minimum amount to write you a check.
The third case is the mid way between the two previous cases. Affiliates still can earn whether their visitors buy something from the merchant or not. But he simply needs to register himself with the merchant site as a lead then you will be paid in this case. It is obvious that only hitting the link is not enough to generate a commission.
The question that must come in mind now is who administers all of this and how the amount of clicks and sign ups could be calculated and how can affiliates know that the visitor had purchased something from the merchant website. Only two words i.e.; affiliate marketing holds the answer for such questions and concerns. These sites work as affiliate brokers who connect the merchant and the affiliated website and maintain an eye on the agreement. They have the technology and the capabilities to monitor the traffic and the sales amount generated through every single link. They help both the parties to make profit from the affiliate marketing program. From the generated revenue, the merchant fixes a percentage as commission for disbursement among the affiliate marketers. The merchant does this percentage setting ignoring actions by any visitors but the agreement.
If you are planning to get a high paying affiliate program the first thing is you have to prepare a website with a high rate of daily traffic, this will be your gateway to achieve the income level that you have ever dream of.
